We strongly believe that the arts must be an essential part of a child’s growing years, regardless of opportunity, privilege and background. Their richness always leaves its trace on children and contributes greatly to their individual development.
The key objective of the Theatre Inclusive programme is to take rich theatre experiences to low-resourced children across the country every year. So that each year of the child’s life has a highlight of inspiring theatre built into it.
In order to achieve this over time, we imagine the programme as both having immediate impact and building for the future. Over time, to bring the richness of theatre to children, it would be important to have local theatre groups equipped to create thoughtful and engaging plays for young people. This will enable children to engage with theatre multiple times over the year, establish a deep connection between local theatre groups and local communities, and build thriving, socially-connected theatre communities over multiple smaller towns and cities.
